Death of check-in: maybe not!

I love simplyzesty.com, everything posted there is reasoned, clear and interesting. For me. And sometime gives me also energy.
It says that we are gping to see the “death of check-in”, I answer it is the “death of old-style check-in”.

I agree that people don’t find any gain or entertainment from a check-in. In fact giving out your gps-position is for free and pointless, onky interesting for potential stalker.
My idea is to change the location data froma passive information to an active one.
So, instead of telling your physical position to internet/virtual acquintances, you can use your postion to build relationships and enjoy time.
This kind of social network is called implicit network, like the famous one, “colors”, the implicit proximity-based network.

The problem I see it is the way we stick with ideas and frameworks, and we cannot escape easily out from them, till someone bring us a revolutionary concept: something simple, always there, one feet far from our nose, invisible to the people so far.

Here i think the problem is our best friend, Internet. The greatest invention of all times, rule-changing, reshaping society and ideas. At the same time our chain. It handcuffs us to consider social network possible just through it.

Whenever you send a email to anyone one meter far from you, try to think what really happens. You push the button SEND. Computer sends thousands of mles away the electric signal to your mail server farm. Then it finds the destination through some other database located anywhere in the world, and then runs for other thousands of mjles away, back to your room. Just one meter far from where it started.
Isn’t amazing.
Isn’t weird?
Isn’t unnecessary?

Why the signal cannot travel just one meter?
Because we are slave of our best friend.

Why I care?
Because I feel unnecessary it goes through foreing and stranger channels, out of our control, when there is no need of it.

What can we do?
Understand where is the next old-fashion revolution and build it.

Do you know?
